A new takeaway has opened in a Lake District town by the people behind a Cumbrian Michelin starred restaurant.
Grain, in Ambleside, has been created by the Forest Side’s Andrew Wildsmith, Alasdair Elwick and chef Paul Leonard.
They said it aimed to offer the highest quality homemade food on the go – from sandwiches and pastries to salads and smoothies.
The entire menu has been created by Paul, with the idea that fantastic food can be enjoyed anywhere, even at the top of Scafell Pike.
He said: “We created Grain because we wanted to eat this kind of food ourselves.

“Food that’s wholesome, restaurant-quality, and ready when you are. It’s everything we craved on our days off without compromising on taste, quality, or where it comes from.”
Its focaccia sandwiches are made with heritage grain flour from Lovingly Artisan, and in-house baked pastries.

Its house coffee blend has been roasted specially for Grain by Lonton Coffee Company.

Alasdair added: “At Grain, we do things the right way. We bake, roast, and prepare everything fresh each morning, so it’s ready to grab and go without ever compromising on flavour.”
