People can step into a prehistoric world in Carlisle this summer as full-size dinosaurs invade the city in an internationally acclaimed exhibition.
The Dinosaur rEvolution exhibition brings together cutting-edge science, striking art, and full-sized animatronic creatures in an unforgettable experience for visitors of all ages.
Unlike the dusty textbook dinosaurs of the past, this exhibition presents them as science now suggests they were: fast, feathered, and often flamboyantly strange.
Expect bright colours, dramatic quills, and adaptations that connect the age of reptiles to the birds we see today. The exhibition fuses science with spectacle, offering a rare chance to walk among six roaring, animatronic dinosaurs.
Original illustrations by renowned palaeo-artist Luis V Rey accompany replica skeletons and fossil casts.

Alongside these dramatic reconstructions, there will be a dino-themed programme of events and activities offering young visitors the chance to uncover fossils, enjoy classic films, and even transform into little palaeontologists.
There will also be talks and evening events for adults, featuring everything from an escape room style quest to a death metal late night opening.
“Our aim is to surprise people—not just with the scale and realism of these creatures, but with the latest discoveries that make them more dynamic and fascinating than ever. This summer promises to be a fantastic offer for everyone.” said Anna Smalley, head of collections and engagement at Tullie.
Visitors to the exhibition will also be welcomed into the museum’s new spaces. Completed in April this year, Tullie now boasts a transformed entrance, welcome space, shop and a new ground floor gallery dedicated to the city of Carlisle. As well as the refurbished Café Tullie, which opened in February.
Dinosaur rEvolution has been developed by Gondwana Studios, specialists in dinosaur exhibitions which bridge the gap between science and public engagement.

The exhibition has previously toured in New Zealand and Australia and its most recent stop was Horniman Museum & Gardens in Forest Hill, London.
The exhibition runs at Tullie from this Saturday, June 28 to Sunday September 14, open 10am to 4pm Monday to Saturday and 11am to 4pm on Sundays.

Relaxed openings with reduced capacity for those that prefer a quieter environment take place every Sunday 11am to noon.
Alongside the exhibition is a full programme of dinosaur-inspired events including craft sessions, dinosaur film screenings and DinoQuest in collaboration with Red Herring Escape Rooms.
Adult admission to the exhibition is included with a £15 annual pass or £8.50 day ticket. Tickets for under-18s are £5 for the day or £8.50 for a Dino Pass giving unlimited entry for the exhibition’s run.
