William Mark with Sportsman

Thursday saw a return to Moss Peteral where 23 hounds turned out for the three trails.

Eleven of those were involved in the opening senior race when Sportsman for Willie and Craig Mark was sent off as the favourite.

When they were slipped litter mates Hey Mac for Neil and Gillian Brown, Joel and Derek Bullman and Embrace for Laura Steele, Andrew and Joel Bullman, and Ian Rumney were leading the way from Sportsman but they had a small scale.

As a result, Sportsman took advantage to go on and lead the rest of the hounds.

The hounds were then seen climbing the fell and going along the top after roughly eight minutes running.

Hey Mac had hit the front once again with Sportsman in second and Discover for Kerry and Anna Lindsay in third.

Reports came in as they crossed the final road  and it was Flightline for Sarah White who was leading from Discover and Sportsman.

These three had forged an advantage over the chasing field and when they showed on the finish the same trio had maintained the lead.

It was Sportsman who finished best to win from Flightline with Discover in third, claiming his first senior ticket.

George Burgeon and Carol Logan with Mr Mally and Tallulah

Denton Shamrock for Sandra Mordue, Ted Storrows and Lee Wall finished in fourth while Millie’s Lass and Millie’s Lad finished fifth and sixth for George McGimpsy, and Gillian and Millie Telford.

Next into action were the pups with four lining up at the slip.

Current championship leader Delta Fortune for Sarah and Baz Harper and Hartley Robinson was sent off as the favourite.

Reports came in from outside as the race progressed and Delta Fortune was leading the way from Affirmation for Andrew Bullman and Laura Steele and TicTok for Anna and Kerry Lindsay and Janie McAulay. There was then a small gap to Stretch in fourth for Malcolm Holmes.

As the hounds passed the trail field Delta Fortune had pulled clear from the chasing pack and on the finish had maintained his lead and finished well to take his 15th puppy win of the season ahead of TicTok in second. Affirmation finished in third and the final ticket went to Stretch.

The Open Maidens contested the final trail with a field of eight taking part.

Sarah Harper with Delta Fortune

This looked a fairly open race with nothing standing out as the favourite.

As the hounds progressed throughout the trail it was kennel mates Tallulah and Mr Mally for George Burgon and Carole Logan who were leading the way from We Get By for Sarah White and Castle Callant for Marti Borthwick and Amy Brookes.

As they showed onto the finish Tallulah and Mr Mally were still leading and had a great race to the line.

In the end it was Tallulah who was successful by a length from kennel mate Mr Mally while Senor for Malcom Holmes was third.

Castle Callant finished in fourth and Sir Robert for Malcolm Holmes was fifth while the final ticket went to We Get By.
