A powerful one-act play aims to highlight the impact of dementia on families.
The Last Memory, by Alan Stockdill, will be performed by the Rosehill Players next month.
It is a departure for the amateur dramatics group, which has never performed a one-act play, but director Jude Henderson said they were keen to stage it to raise awareness.
The hour-long play features two characters – Ernest and his daughter Lynne.
Ernest, played by Stuart Buchanan, is diagnosed with Alzheimer’s Disease. He has a plan: to leave an imprint of who he is. Lynne, played by Rachel Simpson, is to be the keeper of his memory.
The play is inspired by a real life situation and the audience is invited to join them on their journey and share their hopes, fears, smiles and tears.
Alan, who has gifted his work to Rosehill Players, will be attending one of the performances.
The Last Memory will be at Rosehill Theatre, near Whitehaven, on Friday August 15 at 7.30pm, Saturday August 16 at 2pm and Sunday August 17 at 2pm.
All tickets are £8 and are available from the box office.
