No games were played yesterday in the Holmen Iggesund Cumberland Amateur Rugby League.

Distington A were unable to raise a side for their game with title-chasing Maryport.

Egremont A should have hosted Kells A but the two clubs agreed to rearrange the fixture to a future date.

It’s also been confirmed that Askam have resigned from the league, unable to complete their remaining fixtures.

Head coach Chris Broadley who has worked so hard to keep the club functioning has outlined the problems he has faced.

He said: “I regret to inform you that Askam ARLFC open age have withdrawn from the CARLA for the rest of the 2025 season.

“This difficult decision has come off the back of a number of long-term injuries and player unavailability which has ultimately led to us being unable to fulfil fixtures.

“I am deeply saddened by these developments. On a recent Saturday alone we had 23 players unavailable for various reasons.

“As a club we hope to regroup and get a team on the field for the 2026 season.

“I would like to thank all sponsors, players and supporters who have got behind the club.”
