Cumbria’s three Northern League clubs start in earnest on Saturday after their build-up of friendlies has been completed.
Kendal Town and Penrith both lost yesterday while there was a final victory for Carlisle City.
It’s generally been a good pre-season for new Kendal manager Matt Flynn but they were well beaten 6-2 at Padiham in their final workout.
They had trailed 2-0 at the break and out-scored again in the second-half when Niall Cowperthwaite and Jamie Looker were on target for the Mintcakes.
Carlisle City enjoyed a 2-0 home win over Lochar Thistle with goals from Adam Gordon and Jay Kelly.
But Penrith, also against Scottish opposition, were beaten 2-1 by Threave Rovers.
The Northern League starts on Saturday when Kendal Town host Newcastle Benfield; Carlisle City entertain Shildon while Penrith start on the road at West Auckland.
