
Emergency services were called yesterday after reports of a person in the water off the west coast.
Whitehaven and Maryport Coastguard rescue teams were called yesterday, Saturday July 19, to Maryport.
A request was also made for Maryport Rescue to launch its emergency rescue boat.
Police, Coastguard rescue officers and Maryport Rescue boat crew entered the water and the casualty was safely brought back to shore.
Whitehaven Coastguard Rescue Team said: “After a short stretcher carry off the beach, the casualty was handed into the care of North West Ambulance Service for checking over and any further treatment.”
