A Kendal youngster is celebrating after his dance company got the golden buzzer on Britain’s Got Talent.
Archie Quinn-Sunter is one of the Phoenix Boys, who performed on last night’s episode of the ITV show.
Dance legend Bruno Tonioli hit the golden buzzer so hard that he smashed it. A teary Bruno said how the group reminded him of being a young male dancer.
Members of the group said it felt like everything was frozen in time and getting the gold was the most surreal experience and the happiest moment of their lives. The group enjoyed a standing ovation from the whole auditorium at the London Palladium.
Archie said: “It was such a surreal moment even being on the stage. A moment I had always dreamed of but never thought would happen. I was confused, happy and shocked that Bruno pressed the golden buzzer for us, was the best feeling in the world. I never thought it would happen to us. Bruno understands It’s not always easy being a male dancer, but he gets it…he gets us and we are so excited for the next round!”
Archie trains at The Hammond School, Chester and is a former student at Kendal Dance Academy.
Phoenix Boys is a nationwide dance associate programme which currently runs in London, Manchester and Birmingham, and provides supplementary training to budding male dancers with no audition to be involved.
