DSC09980 (1)[O]ver 200 members of the South West Lakes Scout District spent 2 hours on St George’s Day at Ford Park involved in activities and games celebrating their patron, St George.

Following the activities a group of Leaders and Explorers carried out an enactment about the story of St George and the Dragon enhanced with words from Baden Powell as to why he chose St George as our Patron.

Leah Albion (The Dragon) a Xenolith Explorer Scout said “I’ve had a great day; I ended playing the Dragon in the St George enactment!”

DSC09531Susie Faulkner the recently appointed Scout District Commissioner used the opportunity to present achievement awards, to beavers, cub scouts, scouts and explorers. Finally all the scouts and leaders renewed their promise to do their best, to do their duty to God and The Queen, to help other people and to keep the scout Law.

DSC01928Susie the District Commissioner said “Our annual census has shown we have increased the number of people involved in South West Lakes, so it was great see so many people from across the District having fun and taking part in activities together as part of the family of Scouting.
