Thousands raised for the air ambulance

IMG_0023[A] charity partnership between two air ambulance charities and Story Homes has raised £5,944.

For the past twelve months Story Homes has been supporting the Great North Air Ambulance Service and the North West Air Ambulance Charity, with dedicated members of staff raising just under £6,000.

From extreme sporting challenges to bake offs, employees have spent the past year not only having fun but also raising funds for a charity which touches people’s hearts and lives. The air ambulance provides emergency pre-hospital care rescuing and transferring severely injured or ill patients.

Employees across the business came together in fundraising activities and Steve Errington, Chief Executive of Story Homes, said: “I am proud we have raised nearly £6,000 for these charities.

“The air ambulance saves lives every day of the year and we’re proud to support them in any way we can. It’s great to see the energy, quite literally in some cases, that staff have put into organising and taking part in activities to raise money for a great cause.”

Grahame Pickering MBE, GNAAS Chief Executive, said: “Last year we treated 846 patients throughout the region. Everything that enabled us to do that, from the helicopter itself, to its fuel and the equipment it carries, was paid for out of donations. We are humbled by the imagination and enthusiasm displayed by the Story Homes team in raising money for us and our friends at North West Air Ambulance. If they ever spot our aircraft in the sky, I hope they look up feeling proud knowing that they have helped to keep it there.”

Megan Edwards Nolan, Corporate Fundraising Officer at the North West Air Ambulance Charity, said: “We’d like to say a huge thank you to the entire team at Story Homes for supporting us throughout the last year. Just as many of our patients wouldn’t be here without us, our helicopters and crew wouldn’t be here without wonderful supporters like Story Homes. This donation will help us to continue to make a life-changing difference to people across the region.”

Story Homes is an award winning property developer with more than 28 schemes in Cumbria, North West and North East England and southern Scotland. They have committed to raising funds with charity partnerships over the few years, with previous local charities including Eden Valley Hospice, Hospice at Home Carlisle and North Lakes and Carlisle Mencap. The developer will be announcing their new charity partnership in the upcoming weeks.
