[A] one of a kind photography and video show will open at the Rheged Centre for one weekend on May 13th and 14TH 2017.

Now in its second year, the Cumbria Photography and Video Show is an inspirational weekend dedicated to all things photographic, held in association with Rod Ireland Photography. An exhibition of over 250 spectacular photographs from local camera clubs, and visitors will be able to hear fascinating talks including – ‘Instanto Outdoors – contemporary Lake District photography with a unique Victorian camera’ with Henry Iddon, and ‘From the Ground Up – Building a successful and sustainable photography business’ with Tiree Dawson.

Claire Logan-Stephen said “The Cumbrian landscape is one of the world’s most awe-inspiring spaces and the show really captures the majesty of the Lake District. This popular show offers anyone with an interest in photography and video a chance to find out about the latest equipment, hear talks by some of the most inspiring filmmakers and photographers from across the region, buy gear and photography as well as picking up useful tips on everything from getting the most of your camera and ideas for new. It’s also a great opportunity to meet talented local photographers and videographers for collaboration on future projects.”

Over the weekend, the Rheged Gallery will be hosting ‘Derek Eland: Being Human at Base Camp’, a new exhibition documenting artist Derek Eland’s time on Everest through photography, raw and confessional handwritten accounts collected in the artist’s unique “diary room”, social media and video.

Tickets £2 | Under 16’s free | 10am – 4pm
