[F]rom examples of fine art to computer games, graphic design and photography, final preparations are underway to stage what’s hoped will be the most inspiring summer show yet at the University of Cumbria’s Institute of the Arts.

For final year art design and media students the event is the chance to showcase what hours of effort have achieved and show off work in public.

“We are really excited by the standard of work being presented at this year’s degree show,” Principal lecturer and exhibition organiser Steve Ogden says. ”The exhibition celebrates the continuing success of the arts provision within the university and the outstanding work it generates, which is a credit to both students and the staff.”

Degree-level work from more than 150 students, studying on 11 different courses, will be on display at the university’s Brampton Road campus and will be open to the public for a week starting at 10.00am on Saturday 3 June 2017.

This year selected students who will be exhibiting at the New Designers and Free Range Shows in London in July will be showcasing their work in the Vallum Gallery next to the main reception.

As part of the university’s continued focus on employability a preview opportunity for businesses has been organised on Friday 2 June between 4.00 – 6.00pm. For further information please contact karen.jones@cumbria.ac.uk

During the week long exhibition they are hosting a Teachers Open Day on Friday 9 June for further information contact laura.kirk@cumbria.ac.uk

The Summer Show is open from Saturday 03 – Friday 09 June 2017 from 10.00am – 4.00pm (closed Sunday.) Entrance is free and everyone is welcome.Display post for the Summer Showcase
