[U]p and coming Indie pop stars and Radio One house-band The Tailormade are set to bring the ‘Feel Good’ factor to Carlisle Racecourse this summer.

The band, who this year are playing gigs with such household names as Little Mix , Tom Jones, Olly Murs and The Beach Boys, head to Cumbria’s premier racecourse for an evening of racing and live music on Friday July 14.

The meeting is the second of the racecourse’s ‘Feel Good Friday’ events – the first taking place on Friday June 9, featuring live music from Carlisle’s very own Room 101.

The Tailormade – Matt Pickersgill, Jack Frimston and Aaron Murphy – are no strangers to Carlisle having all met while students at The University of Cumbria.

Since then they’ve gone on to be crowned Best Buskers in London by former Mayor Boris Johnson, and supported the likes of Rebecca Ferguson, Lemar and CeeLo Green.

This year they became Radio One stars when they busked in competition with a disguised James Arthur and The Vamps at London’s Waterloo Station with Breakfast Show host Nick Grimshaw labelling them the station’s house-band.

And the band’s self-penned track The Best Days of Our Lives is the soundtrack to a series of promotional videos issued by the University of Cumbria.

Matt said: “Since leaving Uni we have been on an incredible ride that has seen us playing with some incredible artists. This summer we will be supporting Little Mix, Olly Murs and Tom Jones. Last week we opened for The Beach Boys in Scarborough… how insane is that?”

Jack added: “For me the University of Cumbria wasn’t just a university – it was a home, and somewhere we regularly go back to. We cannot wait to be back in the city playing at Carlisle Races. We have played other racecourses in the UK, but this will be a real homecoming gig for us!”

Aaron said: “We know the people of Carlisle like to let their hair down and have a good time and that is exactly what we intend to bring to the races on July 14 – a fun night out with friends and live music.”

The Tailormade will play three sets, before, during and at the end of racing, for what promises to be a magical Friday night out.

Carlisle’s first Feel Good Friday is on June 9 when the city’s favourite party band Room 101 will bring their own sensational brand of pop, rock, soul and funk.

They will play a special post-racing concert following an afternoon of top quality flat racing.

Geraldine McKay, Carlisle Racecourse General Manager, said: “We love our Friday race meetings here in the summer at Carlisle. This year we have named them ‘Feel Good Friday’ and that is exactly what they’ll be.

“We are delighted to have two great bands here entertaining the crowds – Room 101 and The Tailormade. Both of these bands are fantastic and know how to bring the Feel Good Factor.

“So, let your hair down, finish work early on June 9 and July 14 and enjoy a great day and night at the races!”

Tickets for Feelgood Friday on June 9 and July 14 are £14 (in advance) or £17 (on the day). Under-17s get in free when accompanied by an adult. Gates open at 12.10pm on June 9 at and 3.20pm on July 14.
