[A] WOMAN has been jailed for attacking a female she had been banned by a court from contacting in any way.

Susan Williamson, 53, punched, slapped and kicked Angela Strong in Aspatria as she desperately screamed for help on May 2.

Carlisle Crown Court heard the attack had left Ms Strong scared to even go out of her house. Williamson was handed an immediate 12-month prison sentence having admitted charges of assault by beating and breaching a restraining order.

Recorder John Corless was told how Williamson had been made subject to the order in March, 2015, for a previous assault on Ms Strong. This prohibited her from contacting the victim in any way for three years, although the court heard she had been sent to prison later in 2015 – for a further assault on the same complainant.

Following her latest brush with the law, Williamson, of Brough Street, Aspatria, was said to be intent on leaving the town upon her release from custody, and was committed to “leading a law-abiding lifestyle”.
