[A] Carlisle man with 64-previous criminal convictions has appeared before Carlisle Magistrates Court from custody via a video-link, and pleaded guilty to another two-offences, one of theft from Costa Coffee shop in Carlisle and one theft from Boots on English Street, Carlisle.

Darren Farrer, 40, gave his address as Lindisfarne Street, Carlisle.

The court was told on June 4 he went into the Boots store and was seen on CCTV taking packets of razor blades valued at £108, and concealing them in his clothing.

The next day he went to the Costa coffee shop on Scotch Street, he did not have enough money with him and a shop assistant gave him a coffee.

Farrer asked where the toilets were, another member of staff thought Farrer was taking a long time to come back into the shop so went to look for him, he was found in a private staff area.

Diane Jackson prosecuting said he stole about £50 in cash.

Magistrates remanded Farrer into custody until July 30, when he will appear before a judge at Carlisle Crown Court to be sentenced.
