[P]olice have confirmed that an incident at the Morrisons store in Whitehaven has been resolved.
Police were called at 1.06pm today (10th July) following an evacuation of the store.
The evacuation was a decision made by store management as a precaution following an anonymous bomb threat.
Police can reassure the public that the store has been searched and there is no believed risk to the public.
A spokesman for Cumbria Fire and Rescue Service said: “At 13:01 firefighters were called to assist police at an incident on Flatt Walks.
“A supermarket was evacuated, with the deep fat fryers remaining switched on.
“A crew was taken into the building to isolate the fryers and were on standby until they were released from the scene by police.”
The store and nearby roads have reopened.
