Man, 21, critical, another injured after Burton-in-Kendal crash

[T]wo young men have been seriously injured following a one-vehicle road traffic collision on the A6070.

At approximately 03:10am on Friday the 8th of September 2017 a serious road traffic collision occurred on the A6070 at Clawthorpe near Burton-in-Kendal.

The collision involved one vehicle, a silver grey coloured Audi A3.

The driver, a 21-year-old male from the Burton-in-Kendal area received serious injuries and is currently in a critical condition at the Royal Preston infirmary.

The passenger, a 22-year-old male also from the Burton-in-Kendal area suffered head injuries and is also being treated at the Royal Preston infirmary.

A spokesman for Cumbria Fire and Rescue Service said: “At 3:11am firefighters were called to a road traffic collision with one people trapped on Church Stile, Burton in Kendal.

“Two fire engines, one from Milnthorpe and one from Carnforth, attended the incident which involved one vehicle.

“Crews used cutting equipment, stabilisation blocks and lighting to remove a casualty who was trapped on a fence.

“The casualty and one further casualty were then taken to hospital by paramedics.

“Crews were detained for 50 minutes. ”

The road was closed for 5 hours while the necessary police investigation and recovery of the vehicle was conducted.
