James Disley

[A] CRIMINAL who bought heroin with gambling winnings in order to sell and increase his profits has been jailed.

Suspicious police saw James Disley inside a vehicle at a petrol station on Carlisle’s Currock Road on the night of July 7.

Disley, 26, tried to struggle with an officer and attempted to kick away a chewing gum container which was recovered.

Bulk heroin worth hundreds of pounds and comprising more than 100 separate deals was found inside.

Carlisle Crown Court heard Disley had bought the class A drug to sell and boost his profits after winning around £600 on a betting shop machine less than half an hour before.

He admitted possessing heroin with intent to supply and was jailed for 40 months at the crown court today (FRI).

Judge Peter Davies told Disley, of Edenhurst Avenue, Liverpool, that his crime was “increasing the wretched lives of users of heroin in this county”.
