[P]enrith 100% winning start to the season has ended but they maintained their undefeated league record after another tough physical battle with neighbours Kendal Town.

Penrith struggled to get their usually assured passing game going as Kendal pressured them into mistakes. This resulted in a scrappy opening with few clear cut chances.

Penrith eventually took the lead on 34 mins when Nat Broad placed a free kick straight into the bottom corner with the keeper rooted to the spot.

Penrith doubled their lead on 44 mins, again from a set piece. This time it was Paige Williams who poked the ball home after an in swinging corner failed to be cleared by the Kendal defence.

HT 2-0

Into the 2nd half Kendal upped their work rate and were pumping the ball forward at every opportunity. Penrith were struggling to deal effectively with this and Kendal pulled level with 2 well taken goals.

Penrith responded well and youngster Georgia Campbell brought a real attacking threat to the right wing with several crosses begging for a finishing touch but it wasn’t to be.

FT 2-2

This Sunday Penrith entertain Carlisle United Ladies at Frenchfields , 2pm KO.

Penrith : Jones, Nelson(Fawkes), J.Williams, C.Smith, McCormick, Alderson, Nutter(P.Williams), Coulthard, Broad, Hopton, S.Smith(Campbell).
