[H]ealth services in North Cumbria have today launched their latest recruitment video in an effort to attract the very best talent to the area.

Three NHS Trusts – Cumbria Partnership NHS Foundation Trust (CPFT), North Cumbria University Hospitals NHS Trust (NCUH) and North West Ambulance Service NHS Trust (NWAS) – along with Cumbria Health on Call (CHoC) have joined forces to showcase the range of opportunities on offer for health professionals in Cumbria .

The video features 18 members of staff, including a psychiatrist, a physiotherapist, nurses and paramedics, who explain why Cumbria is the ideal place to work and live. Dr Craig Melrose, Associate Director of Operations for community services at CPFT and a GP, who features in the video, said: “In Cumbria there are so many opportunities to branch out into different areas of work. People might think of Cumbria as a largely rural area but there are lively towns and cities too. We have some very innovative work going on at the moment so it’s an exciting time to join us and really make a difference.”

Amanda Dunkley, project manager for attraction at NCUH, added: “By working together as one health system we can get the most out of our recruitment efforts and offer more choice including exciting integrated roles unique to our county. We want people to get excited about the wide range of career opportunities available here, from working in a bustling acute hospital to the diversity of community nursing, there really is something for everyone.”

The video hopes to reach an international audience following successful recruitment of  23 paramedics from Poland earlier this year. Maciej Kurylo one of the Paramedics who also features in the video, commented: “Before moving to Cumbria I was a paramedic in Poland. NWAS has helped me to settle into my new role and meet all the necessary standards. I’ve had fantastic support and already made some really good friends here.”

Stephen Eames, Chief Executive at NCUH and CPFT, said: “Cumbria offers a unique environment for staff both in their working and personal lives. Our staff are proud to live and work in Cumbria. We have some unique opportunities in terms of development, progression and research which we want to shout about. We hope that staff and local communities will help us to share this video far and wide to showcase Cumbria and attract the best talent to the county.”
