Pedestrian critical after Longtown collision

[A] man has been taken to hospital in Newcastle after being hit by a car in Longtown.

Emergency services were called to Swan Street at 6:20pm on Friday 8 December.

A spokesman for Cumbria Police said: “The collision involved a dark coloured Dacia Duster car, driven by a 72-year-old local man and a pedestrian, a 70-year-old local man.

“The collision occurred near the junction of Burn Street outside Eskdale House.

“The pedestrian sustained serious life-threatening injuries and is in a critical condition in the Newcastle RVI.

“The driver is assisting police with their enquires.”

Police ask anyone who witnessed the collision to contact PC2219 Young on 101 quoting log 189 of 8 December.
