[P]olice are appealing for information about a robbery in Millom.

Officers were called at around 3.45pm this afternoon (December 15th) to reports of a robbery at the Post Office on St George’s Road.

The female victim opened the shop door after she heard a knock, and was met by the suspect who threatened her with a knife.

He led her to where there was cash and grabbed the money before leaving the premises.

No-one was hurt in the incident.

The suspect is described as an Asian male, 6ft, wearing a black hooded top and a scarf.

Inspector Gary Hunter said: “This was obviously extremely frightening for the victim, and although she was thankfully not injured, she was left distressed.

“I’d like to reassure the public that we are doing everything we can to trace the suspect, and we have increased patrols in Millom this evening.

“We are appealing to any member of the public who has information to get in touch.”

Anyone with information is asked to contact police on 101 and ask to speak to Workington CID.
