Police name driver killed in A701 tanker crash

[P]olice Scotland is appealing for witnesses to a fatal road traffic collision which occurred on the A701 at Amisfield, Dumfries on Wednesday 7 February 2018.

At approx 1.45pm a white coloured Iveco Daily flat bed pickup was in collision with a white coloured Scania tanker lorry.

As a result the driver of the Iveco Daily, Michael David Reid, 63, from Dumfries was pronounced dead at the scene.

The driver of the Scania lorry, a 55-year-old man from Dumfries was uninjured.

Both vehicles were damaged in the collision.

Sergeant Leigh McCulloch from the Trunk Roads Patrol Group said: “A full crash scene investigation was carried out and the road was closed until around 11pm on Wednesday night.

“We would like to hear from anyone who may have witnessed this collision and would ask that they contact us on the 101 number, quoting reference PDG 0027660218.”
