Steven Parker

[P]olice are appealing for witnesses following the collision on the A596 on Saturday 3rd February in which Steven Parker, 23, from Wigton, was killed.

The collision occurred around 4.50pm on Saturday on the A596, between Carlisle Bridge and Station Road. The collision involved a BMW 335D X Drive and a Vauxhall Corsa.

Steven who was the driver of the BMW, was pronounced dead at the scene. His two male passengers were taken to Carlisle Infirmary, they have both since been released from hospital.

Steven’s family paid tribute to him describing him as having ‘a cheeky smile, a witty character, a heart of gold and he was loved by all his family and close friends’.

The driver of the Vauxhall Corsa, a 25-year-old man, from Wigton was unhurt, as were his two passengers.

The road was closed for 6 hours whilst emergency services attended the scene and the cars were recovered.

Anybody with any information or anyone who was at the scene prior to police arrival is asked to contact PC 1947 Ross on 101.
