[T]his Friday 9 March a special ceilidh as part of the ‘Moving Mountains’ weekend will be held in Appleby Market Hall starting at 7pm.

Music will be provided by 5 musicians in the Eden Valley Ceilidh Band and Douglas Chalmers will be the caller. The event is completely free to attend – just come on the evening. No prior dancing experience is required as Douglas will explain all the dances. There will be a bring and share supper and you are asked to bring your own drinks.

Moving Mountains is an opportunity for churches working together across Cumbria to work together to welcome local people to a wide range of events. There will be 30-35 teams visiting the county composed of a mix of lay people, youth workers and church staff.

The essence of Moving Mountains is local churches planning and arranging local events. These are decided at local church and area level, with the visiting teams supporting what has been decided by churches. The Appleby Ceilidh is one of these events and there will be a short talk in the interval about ‘Moving Mountains’ and its aims.
