[P]enrith went out of the League Plate competition at the Quarter Final stage after a tough encounter against a strong Warrington team.

With several players missing for the match Penrith were forced to reshuffle their team and this unsettled the team in the early stages of the game. Warrington took full advantage and raced to a 2-0 lead with well taken goals.

Penrith upped their work rate and gradually began to get a foot hold in the game. They created a couple of half chances.

Into the 2nd half Penrith maintained a high tempo and in the 65th minute eventually reduced the deficit with a well worked goal. Youngsters Abbie Frizzle and Georgia Campbell created the opening for Nat Broad to score.

Penrith were now on top and threw everything at Warrington in the late stages of the game as they sought an equaliser. Twice they hit the woodwork throught Kim McCormick and Nat Broad while Bea Jackson’s long range effort was somehow scrambled clear.

Warrington showed resilience to see out the victory with an excellent defensive display and ultimately they were more clinical in attack. Late on they sealed the victory with a 3rd goal on the counter attack

FT 3-1

Penrith now turn their attentions to the Cumberland Womens Cup semi final on Sunday when they travel to face Workington Reds.

Penrith: Jones, Nelson, Han Fawkes, Alderson, McCormick, Hea Fawkes(Nutter), Campbell(Jackson), Almond, Broad, Hopton, S.Smith(Frizzle).
