[T]otal Warrior, the Northern Powerhouse in Obstacle Course Racing, is to unveil never before seen obstacles as it returns to the Lake District for an eighth year on the weekend of 4th and 5th August.

Total Warrior, which was established in Shap in the Lake District in 2011, has held seven hugely successful events in the Lakes since then. The event’s popularity has grown year on year to make it the biggest mass participation and sporting event in Cumbria.

Great emphasis is placed on the event venues providing the best all-round event experience. As the Adventure Capital of the UK, the Lake District offers just that, and Total Warrior’s home event has become one of the absolute staples in the obstacle race calendar since its inception.

There were 2,000 participants at the inaugural Lake District event in 2011, increasing to 4,000 in 2012, and then selling out with 6,000 each year since then.

The event, which is timed and suitable for all levels of fitness, features 25 punishing obstacles, combining to set the ultimate test of strength, stamina, determination and teamwork. Each finisher receives a well-deserved free beer at the end of the race.

Total Warrior, whose strapline is “Accept the challenge…”, is treating participants to brand new obstacles in 2018, including The Waterfall – a truly unique obstacle which sees runners scrambling up and over a series of walls whilst contending with water gushing down from above.

Back by popular demand is the iconic Human BBQ, which requires runners to jump over burning fire logs into a 4ft pit of water, as well as other favourites such as Hang Tough, The Plunge, Slideaway, The Shocker and The Ultimate Mud Moguls.

Andrew Murray, Director of Total Warrior, commented: “Total Warrior prides itself on offering greater variety and more obstacles-per-kilometre than any other race out there. We’re very excited for what’s in store this year and look forward to building on our participation numbers.”

Tickets to the Lake District Total Warrior event are available now from £59.95, before a price increase at midnight on 3rd May.
