[C]arlisle College will welcome potential future students and their families to an open event on the evening of Thursday 22nd March.
Carlisle College will once again open its doors to hundreds of potential future students who are invited to drop in on the evening between 4pm and 7pm to see the multi-million pound facilities and meet the team of highly qualified staff who will be on hand to offer top tips on how to realise career ambitions and find the right course.
Carlisle College has over 100 courses available from entry level through to degrees which you will be able to discover more about on the evening.
Courses include Applied Science, available at Level 2 and 3 providing a mixture of classroom based study and practical lab sessions in units such as scientific investigative skills, genetic engineering and biological molecules. The Level 3 course is equivalent to 3 A-Levels and allows students to gain UCAS points for University whilst focusing on one key area of study.
Alix Long, Level 3 Applied Science student said, “The College is a relaxed, comfortable and a welcoming environment to learn. Applied Science is a good stepping stone to many career options. It is also beneficial that our Tutors have industry experience so they can provide examples from business, this is backed up with visits to companies such as Innovia to see how science is applied in the ‘real’ world.”
For learners seeking to pursue a career as a complementary therapist, Level 2 Complimentary Therapies would suit. With modules including, anatomy and physiology, basic massage therapy and reflexology techniques, this qualification is recognised by the UK’s leading professional body (the Federation of Holistic Therapists).
If you are a practical person, interested in how things work and have a passion for designing and creating new structures and buildings, then the skills you will gain in subjects such as joinery, brickwork or plastering will set you up for a stable future in a fast paced industry which employs 2.5 million people in the UK.
Advice and Guidance will also be available on the extensive range of Apprenticeship programmes at Carlisle College. With significant growth year on year, Carlisle College now works with over 350 leading employers in the local area, helping over 300 students a year to secure apprenticeships in a variety of subject areas including construction, business and accounting.
Carlisle College continues to enjoy success with student numbers continuing to grow and was graded as a Good provider by Ofsted in 2016, who identified that “Learners and apprentices continue to receive good education and training,” recognising that the College provides excellent care, support and guidance, which learners and apprentices value greatly, and which ensures that they make good progress.
Andy Dodds, Director at Carlisle College, said “the key to success for students at Carlisle College is our real focus on their ambitions, whether that is to go to University, gain an Apprenticeship or go into employment. All of the courses at Carlisle College prepare students for their next step and I would encourage everyone to come and find out what the College has to offer, particularly those finishing their GCSE exams this year to discover a real alternative to school sixth form”.
To secure a place on a course for September 2018, applications can be made at the open evening or on the College website. To attend the Open Evening register on-line at www.carlisle.ac.uk or drop in anytime between 4pm – 7pm.
