Kavana Taylor

[T]he family of a man who died in a collision in Rochdale have paid tribute to him.

Shortly after 1.30am on Sunday 1 April 2018 police were called to Manchester Road (A664) in Castleton, Rochdale to reports that a blue BMW 1 Series and a blue Volkswagen Polo had collided.

Police and the ambulance service arrived and 21-year-old Kavana Taylor, who was in the BMW, was treated at the scene. He sadly died of his injuries.

A second occupant of the BMW, a 25-year-old man received minor injuries and is assisting Police with the investigation.

The driver of the Polo sustained minor injuries.

An investigation has been launched into the collision.

Kavana’s mum, Claire Taylor, paid tribute to her son: “Kavana was everybody’s friend.

“The cards, messages and support have blown me away.

“He was my soul mate and sidekick  and the best biggest brother to Sammy, lola and Rudi.

“He has left a void that will never be filled”.

Kavana’s father, Ian Taylor, also paid tribute to his son: “He was the best loving son a father could ever wish for.

“He was my best mate.

“He will be always loved and sadly missed by everybody who knew him”.

PC Seamus Toal from GMP’s Serious Collision Investigation Unit said: “My thoughts are with the Kavana’s family and loved ones. I cannot imagine what they are going through.

“We have launched an investigation into this collision and we are hoping that the public may be able to help us.

“We would like to hear from anyone who may have any dash-cam footage, or may have seen the collision.

“We are also keen to speak to anyone who saw a blue BMW 1 series in the area of the collision or in Rochdale town centre in the early hours of Sunday morning.”

Anyone with any information is asked to contact GMP on 0161 856 4741, alternatively call 101 or the independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
