[C]ould you help develop the paramedics of the future? Have you had an experience of treatment and would like to share it with academics who will be training the next generation of specialist ambulance crew ?

The University of Cumbria already runs a course created with the North West Ambulance Services (NWAS) aimed at giving paramedics the specialist knowledge to cope with the demands of the modern NHS.

Now, as part of a project to update the course, course leaders are looking for advice from patients from north Lancashire about the kind of areas that should be included for future students.

“We aim to give our students the best possible knowledge needed to work as a paramedic in the modern NHS,” Tom Davidson, director of the University of Cumbria’s Centre of Excellence for Paramedic Education, said. A serving paramedic himself, he’s keen to hear from patients who may be able to influence what elements the new course should include.”

“We want to hear from anyone who has had caused to make use of a paramedic – from their characteristics to the kind of language used – any feedback that will help us really hone the course to be as realistic and effective as possible,” Tom said.

A specialist ambulance replica is used to train paramedics at the Lancaster campus of the university. This and other equipment will be on display during a coffee morning to be held on June 6 from 10-12 in the Dalton Building, University of Cumbria, Lancaster.
