[A] bumper programme of open-air theatre events will be held at Talkin Tarn Country Park this summer, starting next Wednesday (18 July).

Three performances will be held over two consecutive months by two different production companies.

Please bring along seating as the event will be held on the hard standing on the waterfront. The tearoom kiosk will be open serving a selection of tasty treats. A waterside BBQ will also be available (chargeable).

Wednesday, 18 July: The Pantaloons presents The Importance of being Earnest

Everybody loves Ernest. In fact, Cecily and Gwendolen are both engaged to Ernest. The only trouble is, Ernest doesn’t exist. Or does he…? This energetic and musical production from the critically-acclaimed Pantaloons infuses Oscar Wilde’s witty words with snappy new songs and frantically funny physical theatre to give this perennially popular play a hilarious contemporary twist!

Gates will open at 6pm for a 7pm start.

Tickets cost £10 adult, £5 child or £25 for a family ticket (2 adults and 2 children) and £8 concessions. Tickets are available from the Carlisle Tourist Information Centre, from Talkin Tarn tearoom or via www.thepantaloons.co.uk

Thursday, 9 August: Little Blue Monster Children’s Theatre presents Pirate Pearl and the Big Blue Monster (for ages 3+)

Set sail on this swashbuckling high sea adventure, especially for little pirates and their grown-ups!

Ahoy there, land lubbers – hop aboard the good ship Mirabel and join our rollicking adventures on the high seas. Pirate Pearl lives with her crusty old crew, Barnacle the dog and Mr Puskins the cat. One day, Pearl finds a stowaway onboard ship. It’s a baby monster, but, if you feed a baby monster, it grows into a BIG, CLUMSY MONSTER! With songs, puppets and live music, this fantastic family show will have you singing along, dancing in the aisles and laughing till your sides split.

Gates will open at 4pm for a 5pm start.

Tickets cost £9 or £33 for a family ticket (up to four people). Under 2s free. Tickets are available by calling 0330 133 1063 or by visiting www.littlebluemonster.co.uk/book-tickets

Thursday, 23 August: The Pantaloons presents As You Like It

Welcome to the Forest of Arden, a world of clowns, lovers, runaways and rebels. The critically-acclaimed Pantaloons present their innovative and hilarious version of Shakespeare’s timeless comedy, with folky, foot-stomping live music and their own inimitable brand of buffoonery.
