Ian Davidson

[A] MAN who paid a dead-of-night visit to an ex-girlfriend he was banned from contacting has been jailed for three years.

Ian Davidson, 31, was made the subject of an indefinite restraining order last April which barred him from getting in touch with Scarlett Nicholson after he assaulted her.

But at 3-30am in the morning, on May 21 this year, Davidson climbed into her home through a window having armed himself with a knife and axe while high on drink and drugs.

Miss Nicholson was said to have been left “petrified” as jealous Davidson asked to see her phone before dragging her on to a sofa when he ran towards the front door. She was also cut by the blade of his 12-inch knife during the incident, and was later sent almost 50 social media messages by her ex.

Davidson, of Ehen Road, Cleator Moor was sentenced at Carlisle Crown Court earlier today (THURS). He admitted assault, two restraining order breaches, possessing two bladed articles and aggravated vehicle taking having stolen a car on the same night.

Ian Hudson, defending, said Davidson had a “long-term cocaine and alcohol problem”, was seeking mental health help in custody, and had shown “some insight into the damage he had done”.
