A band of persistent and heavy rain accompanied by strong winds is expected to affect Cumbria during Saturday and into Sunday before clearing eastwards .
The rain will strengthen and weaken in its intensity over this period and combined with strong winds and falling leaves there is likely to be some localised surface water flooding.
30-50mm is expected quite widely, especially on high ground with 60-80mm possible in a few areas.
What to expect
- Spray and flooding on roads will make journey times longer
- Bus and train services affected with journey times taking longer
An Environment Agency spokesman said: “As river levels are currently running at average levels for this time of year, we currently forecast some rise with only Flood Alert thresholds possibly being met.
“This means flooding to low lying land and roads is possible.
“We do not forecast at this time any Flood Warning thresholds being met meaning we do not expect any flooding to property.”
