Funky Furness live band Grand Central Groove to present GlitterBall

Grand Central Groove

FUNKY eight-piece live band Grand Central Groove are set to present Furness’ biggest night of festive entertainment with a fantastic Boxing Night event.

The GlitterBall comes to Abbey House Hotel, in Barrow-in-Furness, on Wednesday (26) night, featuring two live sets by the much-loved disco and soul outfit, as well as a party afterwards blasting groovy anthems on a sparkling dance floor.

The night will start at 7pm with a complimentary arrival glass of fizz and festive canapés, before the packed night of spectacular entertainment.

This Boxing Day event follows a hugely-successful BabyCham Ball at the stunning Abbey House Hotel earlier this year – Grand Central Groove’s first major event, having formed in early 2018.

Made up of some of South Cumbria’s most experienced musicians and live performers, Grand Central Groove features: vocalist Harriet Cooper, guitarist David Cartmel, bassist Stephen Simpson, drummer Dylan Pepper, keyboardist Lesley Harris, and a brass section of Emma Howarth on sax, Phil Blackburn on trumpet, and Tim Lysons on Trombone.

With a vast repertoire of disco and soul classics, at the GlitterBall on Boxing Day you can expect to hear some of the biggest hits of all-time from the likes of Chic, Stevie Wonder, and Earth, Wind & Fire, alongside more modern favourites from Beyoncé, Jamiroquai and Bruno Mars.

The band’s vocalist, Harriet Cooper, said: “We were overwhelmed by everyone’s support of the BabyCham Ball last August which was Grand Central Groove’s first big event – everyone dressed up and had a great time dancing, drinking and getting into the groove!

“This prompted us to return to this beautiful venue on Boxing Night to host the GlitterBall. This time we want to make it bigger, better and sparklier than last time!

“With it being Boxing Night, we are making this night family friendly so everyone is welcome.”

“There will be a photo studio set up on the evening so that guests can get photographs of themselves taken professionally, thanks to Alan Potter at Studio2U. We are holding a charity raffle on the night which will be raising funds for Barrow Foodbank.

“We would like to thank all the sponsors massively for the awesome prizes on offer – especially Abbey House Hotel, South Lakes Rock School, Daniel Cooper Art and Marks & Spencer to name only a few.

“We look forward to welcoming Barrow’s mayor Bill McEwan and thank him for his support.”

Tickets for the GlitterBall priced £15 per person and can be purchased online on TicketTailor via a link on www.grandcentralgroove.co.uk or physical tickets can be purchased from Lesley at South Lakes Rock School in the Victoria Hall on Rawlinson Street, Barrow-in-Furness.

Be sure to snap them up as there aren’t too many left!
