Learn more about becoming a District Councillor at information events

Are you thinking about standing as a candidate for Eden District Council in the Local Elections on 2 May 2019?

You can find out more information about what standing for election involves and the role and responsibilities of being a councillor by attending information events being organised by Eden District Council.

The information events are being held in the Council Chamber at Penrith Town Hall on the following dates:

  • 5pm-6.30pm on Wednesday 6 March 2019
  • 5pm-6.30pm on Wednesday 13 March 2019

Eden District Council’s Director of Corporate Services and Returning Officer for the Local Elections, Matthew Neal, said: “The information events are an opportunity for anyone considering standing for election as a District Councillor in May 2019 to learn more about what the process involves and the support they will receive should they be elected.

“Anyone who intends to stand for election to the District Council for a political party or as an independent candidate is welcome to attend. This is their opportunity to find out more about what becoming the elected representative for their local community will entail.”
