Workington man who denies firearm “threat” goes on trial

Carlisle Crown Court

A MAN accused of threatening another man while holding a firearm to his head has gone on trial.

Billy Wildgoose, 25, denies two charges. One alleges possession of an imitation firearm – a Walther PC88 air pistol – with intent to cause fear of violence. A second alleges he did an act tending and intended to pervert the course of public justice.

Opening the case to a Carlisle Crown Court jury today (MON), prosecutor Kevin Slack alleged Wildgoose approached Tyler Wilson at Siddick, near Workington, on September 7, 2017.

He alleged Wildgoose produced an imitation firearm which an expert concluded “could easily be mistaken for a handgun”, “held it up to Mr Wilson’s temple as he sat in his car threatened him with it”.

Months later, Mr Slack alleged Wildgoose posted an extract from the transcript of Mr Wilson’s police interview on his own Facebook page.

Wildgoose, of Hunday Court, Workington, made no comment about either allegation when he was interviewed. He is said to claim that he didn’t threaten Mr Wilson with the firearm, nor did he intend to pervert the course of justice.

His trial continues.
