Police are asking for members of the public who are able to help search for a missing 91-year-old man to come forward and assist efforts tomorrow (July 17).

Officers and partner agencies have been looking for Jed Doran since last week.

Tomorrow (July 17) searches will be carried out in fields in the Workington area.

Anybody who can take part is asked to meet at the site of Workington Fire Station on Moorclose Road at 10am.

Please bring suitable clothing as well as sunscreen and water.

Sergeant Harley Young said: “We would ask any members of the public who are free to help us in this search.

“Police officers will arrange search parties and we will co-ordinate efforts from there.

“It is important that people who want to help arrive at the correct site at the right time.

“This is so efforts can be co-ordinated properly and the searches done effectively and as quickly as possible.”

Jed was last seen in the area of Garnet Crescent, Salterbeck, Workington, at 5pm on Thursday (July 11).

Extensive searches involving police and partner agencies have been carried out since he went missing.

Officers want to thank the public for their help so far and they continue to call on people to help them as they search for Jed, stressing any information – no matter how small – could prove vital.

Jed is 5ft 8ins tall and was last seen wearing grey trousers, a grey cardigan and a flat cap.

Call police with information on 101.
