Fashion fans can pick up some big brand bargains and help raise money for people affected by cancer in Kendal, next week.

Boutique Maya Maya is joining forces with CancerCare to open a special pop-up shop which will sell hundreds of items of top fashion wear worth thousands of pounds, donated by the Wainwright’s Yard-based retailer, the proceeds of which will be donated to the charity.

Entitled Maya Maya Mayhem, the pop-up shop will run from 7-10 November in the unoccupied unit situated next to Maya Maya and will sell big brand items at a fraction of their retail price.

This will be Maya Maya’s second fundraising event in aid of CancerCare and follows last year’s Full Monty-style fashion show which raised more than £18,000 for the charity which provides free professional support and therapy for people affected by cancer, life-limiting illness and bereavement.

Maya Maya owner Amanda Slattery said: “We smashed our original target of £10k for the fashion show and we are hoping the pop-up shop will push the total well over the £20,000 mark.

“There will be something for everyone including ladies wear from leggings to party dresses, accessories and more.  All the items have that Maya Maya quality and style so come along and help us to help us raise as much money as we can for CancerCare.”

CancerCare’s South Lakes Fundraiser Richard Cogger said: “Amanda and her team at Maya Maya have been amazing supporters of CancerCare and we can’t thank them enough for donating the clothes, the sale of which will raise money to support the hugely important work we do in Kendal and beyond.

“They have also pledged to be on hand over the four days to give shoppers the benefit of their expert fashion advice and we are also planning some surprise events throughout.”

Maya Maya Mayhem runs from 7-10 November and will be open from 10am-4pm. For details call the fundraising team on 01524 381820 or email fundraising@cancercare.org.uk
