Hugely successful first day of the annual three day ceramics market held on the outskirts of Penrith.
There are just under 80 exhibitors taking part in this years ceramics market with work being sold from domestic ware to sculptural pieces, large garden planters to mugs and everything in-between. The perfect opportunity to purchase those individual, hand made gifts before Christmas.
Event organiser Matt Cox said: “It’s been lovely to see visitors enjoying the show, all be it from behind masks and whilst limiting social contact.”
“As part of our Covid measures and to ensure that visitors have a safe and enjoyable day with us, we have cut the number of exhibitors in half so that every cattle pen is surrounded by empty pens and allows for easier social distancing. The mart has been laid out in a one way system with a number of short cuts so that visitors can easily find your way back to that that special piece they’d seen earlier in the show without having to travel against other traffic. We’ve limited admissions each day; offering online ticketing for those that want to minimise their interaction with gate staff whilst also holding back a number of tickets for those that are happy to pay on the gate.
Everyone who visits will be asked to wear a mask while they’re inside the show and we ask that visitors observe the social distancing recommendations when possible. There will be several large sanitiser stations dotted around the site and the exhibitors will have sanitiser facilities on each of their stands. The exhibitors have been advised on best practices with regards to customer interactions and card/cash transactions and people are being asked to sign into either the NHS test and Trace app or leave contact details when you first enter the show.”
“Whilst it’s not quite the Pens as usual I think that visitors and exhibitors alike are simply glad of a little bit of normality in what has been a pretty terrible year for most.”
Show is open from 10am until 4pm Friday, Saturday and Sunday at the Agricultural Mart, just off junction 40 – CA11 0DN.
Admission £5, accompanied children free.
