H&H Ladies Webinar

A Cumbrian business is to launch an online webinar centred around ‘Planning for Today and The Future’.

H&H Group, based at Borderway Mart in the Rosehill area of Carlisle, announces its latest interactive online webinar, hosted in part to mark and celebrate this year’s International Women’s Day, on Monday, March 8.

The event will feature pioneering female panellists who all offer extensive understanding of their rural sectors.

Topics will cover aspects from succession planning and farm diversification, to opportunities and schemes available within the National Park.

The webinar is set to help evoke an industry-wide conversation on how the UK can continue to make farming fit for the future, and the combined understandings of participants will examine opportunities and challenges for rural businesses.

The webinar will be chaired by Barbara Huddart of Glendale PR, who handles the PR for H&H Group. The speakers are:

  • Lynne Mallinson, Business Consultant and Non-Executive Board Director at H&H Group plc, who will discuss “The Opportunities within Farm Diversification”.
  • Emma Boyles, of The Grey Sheep Company, who will approach “Finding a Niche and Making it Work”.
  • Heather Wildman, of Saviour Associates, who will cover “The Importance of Succession Planning”.
  • Julia Aglionby, Professor in Practice at the Centre of National Parks and Protected Areas and a Consultant with H&H Land & Estates, who will discuss “Available Opportunities & Schemes within the National Park.”

This free interactive and digital zoom webinar will take place on March 8, 2021 between 7pm and 8.15pm, and will include live video presentations and a Q&A facility to pose attendees’ questions throughout the evening.

To book a place, either contact H&H Group by emailing nina.oxley@hhgroupplc.co.uk or register direct at https://hhwebinar.eventbrite.co.uk

Richard Rankin, Chief Executive of H&H Group said: “With International Women’s Day approaching, we really wanted to celebrate and recognise some of the incredibly knowledgeable women within our industry.

“We hope that this virtual platform will help to create both important discussion and new ideas, where dialogues can be opened up surrounding what the future of farming could look like.

“Over the past year we have been given plenty opportunities to take stock and consider how the agricultural industry can progress towards a more forward-thinking future. At H&H we have an ongoing commitment to future-proofing our enterprises, and are delighted to be able to now offer a forum for such conversations within a wider industry context.”

Professor Julia Aglionby, professor of practice at the university’s Centre for National Parks and Protected Areas

Julia Aglionby (Centre of National Parks and Protected Areas, and H&H Land & Estates) has a passion for acting as the bridge between farmers and others, whether environmental organisations, landowners, water companies or government.

She specialises in the interface and contested space between agricultural productivity and the provision of public benefits in national parks and protected areas. Julia’s aim is to deliver better outcomes for all, and she is also a Trustee for Susan’s Farm CIO, based in the Eden Valley.

Lynne Mallinson (H&H Group plc) is an ambitious farmer’s wife who has a lifetime’s career working at the forefront of business. By the age of 22 she became one of the country’s youngest female bank managers, and has since gone on to set up a multi award-winning business. In joining the Group Board, Lynne brings with her an in-depth knowledge of business and a broad range of skills, including business acumen, performance analysis and marketing awareness.

Heather Wildman (Saviour Associates) has used her entrepreneurial skills across her career to build her businesses and create lasting impressions. She has demonstrated her ability to keep up with industry changes and challenges, and is not afraid of tackling difficult issues.

With over 26 years’ experience working with both farmers and industry in Scotland and around the world, Heather has developed a comprehensive international network. She also studied “Communication – Influencing and Motivating Change” through the Nuffield Farming Scholarship.

Emma Boyles and her husband first sparked the idea for The Grey Sheep Company after their move to become first-generations farmers back in 2004. Thanks to Emma’s love for textiles, they managed to find a way to reintroduce sheep.

Since then, their aim has been to prove that exceptional knitting yarns can be produced from a caring and ethical farm, which invests in the landscape, biodiversity and care of its livestock. The Grey Sheep Company has now become an international success story, with yarns distributed via a number of stockists from the USA to Japan.

Aiming to highlight the specialist knowledge of leading women within the agricultural industry, H&H will provide this forum for viewpoints to come together within a context of ongoing change and uncertainty. The International Women’s Day #ChooseToChallenge campaign will be referenced throughout, to celebrate female achievement within the Agri industry.

‘Planning for Today & The Future’ is a free online event, starting at 7pm until about 8.15pm on Monday, March 8, 2021. To book your place, register online at  https://hhwebinar.eventbrite.co.uk/ or contact H&H Group by emailing: nina.oxley@hhgroupplc.co.uk
