Police have confirmed that a road in Carlisle has reopened to traffic after a large fire at a curry house.
An extensive fire service operation involving six fire engines and an aerial ladder platform helped to bring the blaze at Stanwix Tandoori restaurant on Scotland Road under control.
Emergency services were alerted to the fire just after 3.30pm this morning.
Properties in the vicinity were swiftly evacuated by emergency services.

After crews arrived at the scene, they requested a further three engines to tackle the blaze, alongside an aerial ladder platform.
Ten firefighters wearing breathing apparatus and using numerous hose reels ensured the fire was brought under control.
The road was subsequently closed while emergency services dealt with the incident, but police have confirmed it has now reopened.
“We’d like to thank motorists, pedestrians and nearby residents for your patience,” Cumbria Constabulary said.
