Muncaster Castle

Muncaster Castle has been awarded £178,000 from the Government to help it recover from the coronavirus pandemic.

It was among 23 organisations and venues in Cumbria to be given the boost from the Culture Recovery Fund.

The cash will help the tourist attraction, which also includes its hawk and owl centre,  to continue safeguarding and increasing Muncaster’s varied cultural and conservation heritage offering
and will attract a wider audience.

Its owners say the funding will enable Muncaster to offer more education, cultural richness and heritage access while not excluding its already diverse visitor base.

Peter Frost-Pennington, of Muncaster Castle, said: “We are overjoyed and delighted to have been awarded this grant from the Culture Recovery Fund.

“It is such a boost for our loyal and hardworking staff which will benefit future generations of visitors for many years to come.

“We love seeing people chill out, relax, learn and be entertained by all that Muncaster Castle, along with its gardens and Hawk and Owl Centre, offers to those who honour us with a visit.”
