
The results of two by-elections held for vacant seats on Barrow Borough Council have been announced.
Residents of two wards in Barrow – Hindpool and Roosecote – went to the polls yesterday to decide who they wished to represent them on the council.
Hindpool ward
- Niyall Phillips, Conservative Party – 359
- Jo Tyson, Labour Party – 600
- Spoiled ballot papers – 5
Turnout was 22.88 per cent.
Roosecote ward
- Paul Griffiths, Labour Party – 564
- Jay Zaccarini, Conservative Party – 881
- Spoiled ballot papers – 10
Turnout was 37.22 per cent.
The count was carried out at Barrow Town Hall.
On Monday, the count will get under way for the Cumbria police and crime commissioner election.
