A Kendal man who downloaded and shared sickening child sexual abuse images has been jailed by a judge who said it was “one of the worst types of cases of its type” he had ever dealt with.
Police executed a search warrant at John Holme’s Kendal address on April 22 last year, and found illegal material on four separate devices — two phones, a PC and an iPad.
There were 893 still and moving pictures classed in category A, the most serious, while 543 were category B and 581 category C. A further 29 category C images were found in a paper file, others involved bestiality and, in addition, there were computer-generated pictures of children being abused.
Carlisle Crown Court heard 48-year-old Holme had also shared 11 category A videos — including one involving a newborn baby — on an encrypted chat app, and in addition had carried out concerning web searches.
Holme, of Longpool, later admitted making indecent category A, B and C images; distribution and possessing both prohibited and extreme pornographic images.
Jailing him for three years, Recorder Mark Rhind QC said: “This, I have to say, is one of the worst types of cases of its type that I have had the misfortune to deal with.”
Holme must sign the sex offenders’ register indefinitely.
