A pair of Workington gym owners have set their members a challenge of a 24-hour workout-athon to raise £10,000 for two charities.

CrossFit Stormbreaker, at Salterbeck, is owned by Bill Moore and Kate Jarvis.

They have launched the 24-hour challenge – which will see them attempt one ‘hero workout every hour to represent fallen and injured servicemen and women – to raise cash for Mind and the Samaritans.

The owners said: “Mental health has always been an issue and these two charities have always helped.

“However since the start of the pandemic early 2020, and the additional issues of isolation, shielding, loss of social interaction, the closure of hospitality venues and gyms, these issues have become more prominent.

“As such we feel that raising money to support these two charities is needed now more than ever.”

The gym, which was set up four years ago, is no stranger to fundraising as Bill has completed a tyre flip for charity; walked from Egremont to Barnsley and the gym produces a calendar every year for good causes. To donate, visit justgiving.com
