
New coronavirus cases topped 2,000 in Cumbria for the first time in six months.
There were 2,016 new cases in Cumbria, up from 1,199 in the previous week – an increase of 68 per cent.
The number of hospital admissions at the North Cumbria Integrated Care NHS Foundation Trust increased from the previous week. As of July 6, there were six COVID-19 patients in hospital at the trust. One patient was receiving ventilation due to their condition. The last death in a patient with coronavirus was announced on July 15.
At the University Hospitals of Morecambe Bay NHS Foundation Trust, the last death was recorded on July 12, with no change in the number of hospital admissions from the previous week.
For the third week in a row, Carlisle had the greatest number of new cases with 558.
Allerdale overtook Carlisle in having the highest rate of increase, with a rate of 515 cases per 100,000.

Barrow – 207 (308.7 per 100,000)
Eden – 130 (244.1 per 100,000)
South Lakeland – 299 (284.5 per 100,000)
The England average is 341.5 cases per 100,000.
Meanwhile, all but one of Cumbria’s 12 community lateral flow test sites are to close today.
