A Workington GB medal hopeful is free to take part in the Olympics after being cleared by anti-doping authorities.
The case of Oliver Dustin was being managed by the French anti-doping authorities but The Times reports that it has been dropped on the grounds of cross-contamination with another sample that contained small traces of cocaine.
A drugs test following his race in Nice last month – that saw him break Sebastian Coe’s British under-23 800m record with a world-leading time of 1min 43.82sec – found small traces of a cocaine metabolite.
It is believed Dustin, who enlisted lawyers to help prove his innocence, has not been able to run since last month’s Olympic trials. Today, following news that he would be clear to compete in Tokyo, he tweeted:

Dustin followed up his record time a fortnight later by securing a place at the Olympic Games by finishing second, to Elliot Giles, in the British trials in Manchester.
