Hundreds of tributes have been paid to the teenage boy who was found in Carlisle’s River Eden yesterday.
Mohammad Abdul Hamid, known as Hamid, who latterly attended Richard Rose Academy, more than 800 people have posted messages on our Facebook page after it was revealed yesterday that emergency services had found a body in the river near Stony Holme.
A multi-agency search had been launched after police received a report of a concern for the welfare of a teenage boy who had entered the water at around 9pm on Saturday by the North West Ambulance Service.
He was found at around 11.45am yesterday.
Our Facebook page has been inundated with tributes to the youngster, and Koish Alom posted: “On behalf of the family, we are overwhelmed with your warm messages.
“We would like to thank everyone, from the people posting your kind messages, praying and showing your concern, to those who were at Rickerby Park helping with the search and especially the emergency services who worked tirelessly. Thank you.”
Janette Nugent posted: “Rest in peace Hamid, I will always remember that enormous smile and infectious laugh. Sending lots of love and condolences to everyone that loved you.”
Kylie Christie said: “Rest peacefully Hamid, working with you was an absolute joy, you had a smile that would light up any room, such a happy beautiful boy.”
Leanne Nichols posted: “Will always remember Hamid’s beautiful and cheeky smile and non-stop talking.”
