Carlisle Parkrun is to return after a prolonged absence due to coronavirus

Carlisle Parkrun is to return after a prolonged absence due to coronavirus.

Carlisle City Council is welcoming back Carlisle Parkrun to Chance’s Park this weekend.

The weekly event starts again this Saturday at 9am.

The event is an ideal opportunity to get active and has previously attracted hundreds of participants each week.

The run takes place over a 5km course at Chance’s Park, Wigton Road, Carlisle.

It’s free to take part but if you want to join in, you must register beforehand (you only need to register with Parkrun once). Find out more at https://www.parkrun.org.uk/carlisle/

Stephen Higgs, portfolio holder for culture, heritage and leisure said: “We are delighted to see the return of Parkrun in Carlisle. These popular events are incredibly valuable for many people in supporting both their physical and mental health and wellbeing.

“We’re thankful to Carlisle Parkrun and colleagues for their patience and hard work in supporting the safe return of these events. Please come along and join in, whatever your pace.”

The events are entirely organised by volunteers and if you’d like to help out, email carlisle@parkrun.com
