Calls have been made for an Allerdale councillor to resign after he admitted threatening police officers while he was drunk.

Peter Little, 36, who represents the Maryport South ward on the borough council, was told he could face jail when he appeared at West Cumbria Magistrates’ Court.

It was reported in the Sun today that Little, pleaded guilty to using threatening behaviour and threats to damage property.

Little, who is part of the Independents group, was drunk when he subjected police to a ‘prolonged volley of abuse’, the Sun said.

He was arrested after threatening to smash up a neighbour’s car.

It is understood the incident happened on May 1.

He was bailed and will be sentenced at the magistrates court on August 24.

The Workington Conservatives group have called for Little to be expelled from the Independents group and for Little to resign as a serving councillor.
